Board Directors
Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Economic Partnership (GBSLEP)
Salary: Pro-Bono, expenses paid
Location: West Midlands

Established in 2010, Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Economic Partnership (GBSLEP) is a partnership of business, public sector and further and higher education leaders, spanning nine local authority boundaries: Birmingham, Solihull, East Staffordshire, Cannock Chase, Lichfield, Tamworth, Redditch, Bromsgrove and Wyre Forest.

As a business-led partnership, working closely alongside public sector and educational partners, it has distinct advantages. It is able to take a private sector view of the supply side constraints on growth and provide a forum for demand and supply sides to come together to agree action, with success hinging on delivering interventions that bring about meaningful change, leading to sustainable economic growth.

The LEP Board is made up of Directors from different sectors, backgrounds, industries and points of view and our ambition is to have an inclusive and diverse board, reflective of both our businesses and our communities.

We are currently looking to add a number of new Non Executive Directors to the Board, individuals with the skills, experience, networks and, most importantly, passion to help it to achieve the best possible outcomes for local businesses and residents and to realise Greater Birmingham and Solihull’s full potential.

As a Board Director you will work with us to drive new and emerging opportunities for our region, help the executive team by providing insight, knowledge and also challenge around the issues that our business communities face now and in the future. The roles are high profile and visible and you will play a critical role in championing Greater Birmingham and Solihull economy at all levels.

These NED positions are voluntary non-executive posts with a commitment of up to the equivalent of three days per month. The roles are unpaid, although travel expenses can be claimed.

The LEP Board meets every two months and there is an expectation that NEDs undertake work on the areas that they are leading on in between meetings. This may involve meetings with stakeholders, convening or being a member of sub-groups and attending events to promote the agenda.
