The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority building a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands.
We are 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and its locally elected politicians, who know this region best.
This is an exciting time for the West Midlands. The Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350 million housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.
About the Role
We are now looking for an individual to play a critical role in supporting the development and delivery of investment strategy for the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) initiating and delivering innovative approaches to secure and deploy investment.
As our new Head of Structuring- Investment, you will take the lead in developing detailed business cases, negotiate, secure and manage agreements for delivery and play a lead role in assessing projects against risk measures and strategic objectives to ensure best value for money.
The Directorates are responsible for delivering against their plans to meet the long-term strategy for their area and the role of the Investment and Commercial Activities Directorate is to support and provide expert advice with this.
There will also be interaction with the Mayor of the West Midlands and at a senior level with Directors of the seven Metropolitan Councils, 3 Local Enterprise Partnerships and wider membership of non-constituent authorities where the WMCA may co-invest.
We are open to the sectors candidates will have gained their experience in and you may well be working within the Investment or Development sector or in financial services.
Above all, you will have experience of providing specialist advice and support to complex investments with a particular understanding of the rationale and returns for public sector investment and/or the role of patient capital.
You will also be able to bring in-depth and significant knowledge of Loan structures and able to contribute to delivery plans to ensure that value for money is maximised, taking advantage of public/ private sector relationships to leverage funding for the maximum public benefit.
