Red Door Ventures is the London Borough of Newham’s wholly owned development company which was established in 2014. Following the election of a new administration in May 2018, led by Mayor Fiaz, the company has been re-purposed to focus on the delivery of truly affordable, high quality homes in Newham.
This is a high-profile role in that the London Borough of Newham has secured the largest grant award in London from the GLA and Red Door Ventures is a key delivery partner, contributing to a programme of 1,000 new homes by 2022.

We are now looking to appoint to several newly created roles whicho will help take Red Door Ventures forward and appointing a new Head of Development is a critical part of this process.
We are looking for an outstanding individual with significant commercial aptitude and awareness coupled with excellent development and construction experience and the ability to lead an exciting, complex and diverse residential development programme.
The role lends itself to an innovative and experienced development and regeneration professional motivated by the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential projects that could include major remodelling of existing property, new build accommodation and office and mixed use fit-outs.
The role requires you to be responsible for project delivery and managing a portfolio of development projects, as well as working closely with London Borough of Newham, our Shareholder, to look at new pipeline opportunities. You will have experience and be comfortable working across the whole development cycle, including identification and option development, planning, design, and procurement of consultants.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as is experience leading the delivery of new build development projects.
As the Head of Development, you will work closely with Deputy Chief Executive and the Head of Construction to ensure our programme of planned schemes isare brought to life safely, on time and within budget.
The position will support the Deputy Chief Executive on all dDevelopment issues working adjacent to senior and similar roles in private sector partner organisations.
Red Door Ventures is a lean and dynamic organisation and inevitably this also means that as Head of Development you will offer your expertise and experience to support all members of the team helping them to develop their experience and skills.
We are open to different sector experience – you may well be working within the residential development sector either for a commercial residential developer or operating at the public/private interface. Importantly you will possess excellent knowledge of development and have an awareness of the residential sector and the ability to manage mixed tenure development projects successfully.
As our Head of Development, you will play a lead role in the overall delivery of a planned construction and capital development programme that demonstrably improves the design, cost and build-ability of Red Door Ventures’ projects.
We require someone with demonstrable collaboration, stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills at the highest level and able to demonstrate good financial and commercial acumen, including associated risk management skills.
